INTERESTING
STOPS NOT TO BE MISSED
|
-
The famous Baths (and nearby Spring Bay) is
a must to see. Centuries ago, volcanic eruptions forged
these amazing caves by scattering gigantic rocks,
the size of houses, onto the beach and waters edge.
Now, after years of weathering, these rounded boulders
create mystical grottos and coves accessible by foot
or snorkeling from the beach. Don't miss out!
-
Coppermine
Ruins
400
years ago the Spanish miners followed by the English
mined this area of Virgin Gorda for Copper. The stone
chimney and few mine shafts that now remain are wonderful
to explore. No doubt, the majestic views of Virgin
Gorda and the endless seas will take your breath away.
Stop at the Mine Shaft Cafe for their local drink
"Cave In".
-
Savannah Bay and Pond Bay
Normally deserted except for a few livestock from
time to time, these two extraordinary beaches are
simply long stretches of pristine white sand beach.
Bring a cooler with refreshments or a picnic lunch.
-
Gorda Peak National Park is the highest peak
of Virgin Gorda and is visited by many people. A 15
minute hike up to the summit at 1,359 feet brings
you to a wooden observation tower, where the views
are absolutely brilliant. Proper gear should be worn
when undertaking any of Gorda Peaks hiking trails
as they may not be everyone's cup of tea.

DAY
TRIPS:
to neighboring
islands are very popular, especially to Tortola, St. Thomas
and Anegada. Check with Charter
Virgin Gorda, Dive
BVI, Speedy's. For more information on day sailing please call Charter Virgin Gorda on Nick on 284

BEACHES:
The
following popular beaches are good for swimming and snorkeling.
Located on the Southern end of Virgin Gorda: The Baths
(pictured on the left), Devils Bay, Spring Bay and the
Crawl. Located just north of Spanish Town: Savannah
Bay (pictured on the right) and Pond Bay. Located at Leverick
Bay: Little
Leverick Bay and Big Leverick Bay. A short dingy ride
from Leverick
Bay in the North Sound are located the following beaches.
(Included with your dingy rental will also be a map indicating
beaches, snorkeling spots and places to avoid). Anguilla
Point, Long Beach, Honeymoon Beach, Vixen Point, Eustatia
Island, Deep Bay and Oil Nut Bay
are secluded beaches you can only reach by dinghy!
POPULAR
EXCURSION SUGGESTIONS:
Pub
Crawl -
this is a very popular day away. If you're in the mood
for fun in the sun (or rather a dingy), set sail in the
North Sound with your very own small Boston Whaler. You
can taste your way through each of the fine establishments
on the North Sound, shown on the map you will be given.
Romantic
Getaway - for a romantic day, pack
a light lunch with perhaps a nice bottle of wine or champagne,
assorted cheese and crackers and fruits... etc. Motor
off to your own "private" beach destination for a perfectly
lazy, quiet and private day away. (Baby sitters available).
Virgin
Gorda Tour - rent your
own jeep, (or do it with a taxi), and visit the unique
formations of the Baths, and the interesting Coppermine
Point. Hike the trails through Gorda Peak National Park
and stop for a swim at Savannah Bay.
Tortola
& St. Thomas - take a ferry
trip to our larger neighboring island of Tortola (pictured
below) for exploring with rental vehicle or just shop,
shop, shop until you drop in St. Thomas. (Both islands
cannot be toured in one day. A day trip to St. John is
not possible in one day.)
